James McClean has quipped that he will have someone to sort his windows and bins following Wrexham team-mate Andy Cannon's new contract extension.

Not long after midfielder Cannon signed a new deal until the summer of 2026, with the option of a further year, Irishman McClean was on the 28-year-old's case in light-hearted fashion. He joked that someone will be able to do some of his chores around the house following the former Hull City man putting pen to paper on a new contract.

In response to Wrexham posting on Instagram about Cannon's contract extension, the winger wrote in his Instagram story: "Ahh for fs. On the positive side, least that's my windows and bins sorted for next few years."

After back-to-back promotions, Wrexham are preparing for their biggest challenge yet – life in League One. The goal is to become the first club to earn three consecutive promotions within the top five levels on the English football pyramid. That will be a very tough task but tying down players such as Cannon and McClean – who also signed a new two-year deal – will help towards that goal.

Cannon and McClean could feature in Wrexham's first League One game in 19 years on Saturday when they host Wycombe Wanderers, before travelling to Championship outfit Sheffield United for round one of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
