da mrbet: Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady has shared his shock and subsequent concern after his teammate Willy Boly broke his leg during training.
And it doesn’t spell good things for the west Midlands outfit in the foreseeable future.
What’s he said?
Before Sunday’s Premier League match with Newcastle United, it was revealed that the 28-year-old had slipped during training a day earlier, resulting in a severe injury.
Further scans will prove the extent to which he has fractured his fibula, but it seems likely that his season could well be over.
Boly has been a mainstay at the heart of Nuno Santo’s defence, playing in all but one game before this incident.
Speaking to the Express & Star about it all, Coady highlighted just how huge a loss the Frenchman is, he said:
“It is horrible. It was so innocuous, he just slipped in training and it is something where, when it happens, it shakes you.
“We will miss him, but we have got a squad who will fill in, come in and do just as good a job.
“But he is a big miss, he is big Willy. He will be a huge miss because he is a great character to have in the changing room.”
The severity to Santo’s squad
Coady’s comments probably echo the concerns of just about every human that is in some way involved with Wolves – staff, players, and fans alike.
Boly rates out as their best player per WhoScored, while no other squad member wins more aerial duels at 4.9 or records more interceptions at 1.9 per game.
The one game he missed through suspension before this injury highlights just how much of a mess the west Midlanders were defensively.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea came to town and stuck five past them at Molineux.
Boly was also recently part of their three-game win streak, which saw them also record a clean-sheet in each match.
He’s simply an integral part of Wolves’ success so no wonder Coady has his doubts as they’ll be without him for the foreseeable future.
